Hardin: Stay Safe in Heat

Des Moines County Emergency Management Coordinator Gina Hardin wants everyone to be safe during the upcoming heat spell.

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory today through Wednesday in anticipation of temperatures of one hundred and ten degrees.

Hardin said the Emergency Management Office won’t be opening any cooling centers but is encouraging people without air conditioning to visit public buildings such as the library to seek relief from the heat.

Hardin said it is also important to stay hydrated by drinking plenty of fluids.

The National weather Service predicts the heat wave will be over by Saturday evening.
