Gov. Kim Reynolds announced on Thursday that several school districts in southeast Iowa will be a part of a program that will give them money to expand their computer science program.

39 school districts and non-public schools applied for money from the state and 23 states received funds. The money comes from The Computer Science Professional Development Incentive Fund, which was part of a law Governor Reynolds signed in 2017.

Schools will use the incentive fund to pay for professional learning or university coursework for teaching endorsements in computer science.

Local school districts receiving money include: Lee Central, Fort Madison, Keokuk, and Fairfield.
