If you’re looking for something to do this weekend, head down to the Capitol Theater and check out the children and teens performing this weekend.

On Saturday, July 27th and Sunday, July 28th, the Center Stage Kids perform matinees at 2:00 PM and the Theatrical Teens perform evenings at 7:00 PM.

The Capitol Summer Youth Theater program has grown in size each year, and offers an experience for youth to shine both on and off the stage.

The camps are grouped by age, participants ranging from entering Kindergarten to teens in middle and high school.  In each camp, through theater games and experiencing onstage and backstage roles, Burlington-area youth get the chance to shine and grow.  Each camp concludes with a production of a play.

Kara Ewinger, director of the summer programs at the Capitol Theater, has seen how theater experiences can have a lasting impact on a child: “Experiences in theater can help grow self-confidence, communication, leadership, and team building skills, that transfer to all areas of life.”
