Free learn-to-shoot events will be held July 31 and August 1 at the Big Hollow Shooting Range from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM. These family friendly Shooting 101 events feature rimfire rifle, shotgun, air rifle and archery shooting led by trained instructors. No experience is necessary to participate and all ages are welcome.

Shooting 101 events are designed to introduce families to the world of shooting sports in a safe, fun, non-competitive environment.

“The main goal is to have fun,” said Chris Lee, Conservation Department Director. “Whether you’re a lifelong shooter or you’ve never pulled a trigger, these events are for everyone. We have great instructors and some really fun, reactive targets.”

The Young Guns program is a cooperative effort between the Aldo Leopold Chapter of Pheasants Forever and Des Moines County Conservation.

The Big Hollow Shooting Range is located ten miles north of Burlington on Highway 61 then west on Pleasant Grove Road three miles then south one mile on 152nd Ave. Follow signs inside the park to the range.
