Bustos: Forgive loans of students at Midstate College

Congress Woman Cheri Bustos (D-Illinois)

Illinois Congresswoman Cheri Bustos, along with other Illinois elected officials, is urging the department of Education to dismiss the loans of one hundred and fifty students effected by the closures of an Illinois College.

Midstate college in Peoria is a for profit two year school that will close its doors on August 14th. Federal law provides for student loans to be dismissed if a student is enrolled in a school at the time of its closure or disenrolled less than one hundred and twenty days before the school’s closure. Bustos says this effects about one hundred and eighty students.

Bustos also sent a letter to the president of Midstate College asking he tell students about non profit and state schools the students can attend instead of going to a different for profit school.
