An Iowa Congresswoman and two congresswomen from Illinois want the Cadet Nurses who served in World War two to be honored Veterans.

The United States Army began the cadet Nurse Program in nineteen forty Three to combat the shortage of nurses at home. While many of the country’s nurses were abroad helping soldiers, the cadet nurses remained in the county to care for civilians.

The provision would not provide former Cadet Nurses with pensions, health benefits, or other privileges afforded to former active duty service members.
