Big Hollow sees increased campers

The number of camper nights at Big Hollow in the last fiscal year was just shy of 4,000.

The official numbers were released as a part of the annual Conservation Report. Big Hollow had 3,975 campers, this is more than double what the number was five years ago and up by 500 camper nights.

Other than Big Hollow, other parks saw significant decreases in their camping numbers. The Maple Loop saw just twenty percent of its number last year and Sycamore loop saw almost three hundred fewer campers. The report blames temporary closures of Maple and Sycamore loop for the poor performance.

Lee has said campers are regularly turned away because of lack of space.
