Joni Ernst
Senator Joni Ernst was one of three Senators who wrote an op-ed in USA today talking about the crisis on the southern border.
Ernst called the southern border a smuggler’s hive and that those smugglers exploit loopholes in US Law that make it easy for minors and those who travel with minors to quickly enter the country.
She called on Congress to close the loopholes that encourage child smuggling. She also said the humanitarian crisis is indeed very real.
She also criticized those spreading what she called fake stories about human rights abuses on the southern border, adding that there was plenty of food and hygiene supplies at the facilities she visited.
