NEW DETAILS IN BURLINGTON SHOOTING

Burlington, Ia-  New details have been released in connection to the shooting death of Reynaldo “Rey” Villarreal.

The Hawk Eye reports that according to the Burlington Police Department, there was a social gathering taking place at the house where Villarreal was killed.  Police say that a verbal altercation took place between Villarreal and another man, who was later identified as Diavontae Stepphon Davis of Burlington.  At some point Davis began to wave a gun then Davis shot Villarreal and he fell to the ground.  Police say they found five shell casings at the scene, but Villarreal was only hit by one bullet, meaning Davis fired six shots and only one hit Villarreal.  Davis is being held at Des Moines County Jail on a bond of $1,045,000.  A preliminary hearing is scheduled for September 20th.  If convicted he will serve a mandatory life sentence for the charge of first-degree murder and also have to pay $150,000 to the family of Villarreal.
