Monte Green, 68, of Burlington, died Sunday, September 29, 2019, in Burlington.

Born September 5, 1951, he was the son of Lyle and Myrtle Denning Green.

He worked at Heartland Packaging.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran.

Survivors include two sons, Adam Green of Burlington and Matt Green of Keokuk; one daughter, Susan Green of Fort Madison; and two sisters, Carol and Wuanita Green.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several brothers and sisters.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

There will be no visitation or services.

Darrell E. Tarrence, 76, of New London, died Sunday, September 29, 2019 at his home.
A celebration of Life for Mr. Tarrence will be held Friday, from 10:00 – 2:00 at the New London Community Center. Memorials have been established for Every Step Hospie and New London Fire and Rescue. John W. McNamee, 89, of Sperry, passed away at 9:15 AM Sunday, September 29, 2019, at the Sunnybrook Assisted Living in Burlington.

Born June 2, 1930, in Iowa, he was the son of Fred and Sarah Bass McNamee. On March 2, 1954, he married Louise H. Siefken at St. Mary’s in Dodgeville, IA.

He was the maintenance manager at LaMont Limited for 35 years before retiring at the age of 79.

He was a U.S. Army Veteran, serving during the Korean War.

John was a member of Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church in West Burlington. He was a wonderful woodworker and made a lot of wooden furniture for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. John was a great father and husband. He always had a dog throughout his life and had a special place in his heart for his dog, Toby. He was a great problem solver and very creative in his problem solving, could fix anything and would teach his kids and grandchildren to fix things. John was truly a self-made man. He also played the organ throughout his adult life, including ten years at church.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Louise H. McNamee of Sperry; four children: Fred McNamee of Rochelle, IL, Cathy (Paul) Ziglar of Danville, John (Rhonda) McNamee, Jr. of Indianapolis, IN and Bob (Jean) McNamee of Wetumka, AL; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by one daughter-in-law, Missy.

Visitation will be from noon until 7:00 PM with the family to receive friends from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The Funeral Mass of the Resurrection for John will be 10:00 AM Thursday, October 3, 2019, at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church, West Burlington with Rev. Father Daniel R. Dorau as the Celebrant. Music will be provided by the Des Moines County Resurrection Choir. Full military honors will be rendered by the Burlington Area Veterans Honor Guard. Burial will be in Burlington Memorial Park Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the Fellowship Hall at Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church following burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorials have been established for Divine Mercy Parish-SS. Mary and Patrick Catholic Church and Des Moines County Humane Society.
