City Preps for Potential Flooding

Burlington Ia-  With several days of heavy rainfall the Mississippi River has once again begun to rise, and the city of Burlington has begun to prepare for potential flooding.  City workers will be putting up Hesco barriers around the north end of the flood wall in preparation for a flood.

Public Works decided Monday that once the river reaches 16.5 feet, they will be putting up some Hesco walls.  At 17 they anticipate minimal flooding, however, they believe it’s unlikely the river will get any higher than that, provided that heavy rainfall does not persist.
