Obituaries for Wednesday October 2nd

Jacquelyn Louise Stevenson Gittings died in Janesville, Wisconsin on September 12, 2019 after a brief illness.

Born in Burlington on August 30, 1946, she was the eldest child on John Milton and Marian Mae (Roan) Stevenson. Jackie attended the Stronghurst, IL school system and in High School, she was a cheerleader.

In the early 1960’s she married Lyle Gittings of Dallas City, IL. They later divorced.

For more than 40 years, she lived in Janesville, Wisconsin. There she spent more than 20 years working at Mercy Health Assisted Care in Janesville. She enjoyed spending time with friends and she was an avid sports fan, following the Chicago Cubs and the Green Bay Packers.

She is survived by her two sons, John Stevenson Gittings of Dallas City, IL and Michael Owen Gittings of Janesville, WI; one daughter, Julie Lynn Little of Dallas City, IL; one brother, Jay (Shirley) Stevenson of Springfield, IL; 13 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, John Ronald Stevenson, and son, Gary Wayne Gittings.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home on Division Street in Burlington, The Reverend Doctor Joyce Beaulieu will officiate. Burial will be in Carman Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held in the community room at Prugh-Thielen following the burial.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution to Henderson County Hospice in Gladstone, Illinois or to the donor’s local Hospice Program.
