Obituaries for Friday October 4th

Harold B. Walker, 95, of Burlington, passed away at 9:07 PM Wednesday, October 2, 2019, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born October 6, 1923, in Middletown, he was the son of Jay Earl and Laurel Fern Short Walker. On August 4, 1943, he married Nadine Calvin in Danville. Nadine passed away on September 9, 2018.

Harold farmed for 12 years and then worked for General Electric for 20 years.

He was a U.S. Marines Veteran, serving during the World War II from April 12, 1944 until April 4, 1946.

Harold was of the Christian faith. He enjoyed woodworking, especially birdhouses, and gardening.

Survivors include one daughter, Sharon Kay (Ervin) Imm of North Liberty; three grandchildren: Jackie, Wendy Imm and Maria (Matt) Diffley; three great-grandchildren: Anna, Kate and Nolan Diffley and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his beloved wife, Harold was preceded in death by his parents, one son, Ronald Walker, one sister, Betty Laughlin, and one infant sister, Florence Walker.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh~Thielen Crematory.

Inurnment will be held in Long Creek Cemetery at a later date.
