Burlington, Ia- Burlington Chamber of Commerce has named Silgan Containers its 2019 Manufacturer of the Year. The Burlington based flagship location of the worldwide company was opened in in 2016. As the largest can company in North America, they have been making cans for over 100 years. With over 15 large customers, they ship cans all over the east coast, Midwest & Canada.
In a Press Release, the Chamber cites their loyalty to employees and community involvement was a big part of their selection. They produce over 5 million cans a day while continuously working on ways to improve and increase production.
Furthermore, the safety of their workers is of the utmost importance. They have never had a lost-time accident and their frequency rate has been well below 1 over the past 3 years.
The company is immersed in many area activities with sponsorships, volunteers and supporting the community. A few examples are Burlington Steamboat days, Burlington Noon Lion’s Oktoberfest, Burlington Bees, Chamber of Commerce Golf Classic, Burlington Greyhounds and Partnering for the Future Platinum Sponsor.
