8 running for Burlington School Board

Burlington, Ia (The Hawk Eye)- Voters in the Burlington School District next month will be asked to cast ballots for the four people they think will best oversee district operations over the next four years, and they’ll have plenty of candidates to choose from.

The Hawkeye Reports that Eight people submitted papers to run for the Burlington School Board this year. The seats up for grabs now are held by Bryan Bross, Heather Brueck, Deborrah Hatteberg and Marlis Robberts. Neither Brueck nor Robberts are running for another term. Bross and Hatteberg, both of whom first were elected to the board in 2015, are seeking re-election.

Challenging the incumbents are Angela Gordon, Nancy Hoelzen, John Jay, Anika McVay, Joel Sieren and Keith Turrill.

Voters will get a chance to hear from the candidates about various issues the district faces at 5 p.m. Oct. 21, when the Greater Burlington Partnership hosts a candidate forum in the Administration Building.

School board elections, as well as city elections, will take place Nov. 5.
