With the upcoming Burlington City Council elections, KBUR had the opportunity to sit down with one of the three candidates for the two opening city council seats.

Bill Maupin is a lifelong Burlington resident and currently serving his 32nd year as an educator, and serving his sixth year as Principal of Burlington Notre-Dame Catholic Schools

Maupin believes that the city council has responsibilities for citizen safety and infrastructure, and he plans to make those two things his top priority.

“I really think that we really need to give the police department the resources that they need to curb some of the crime that is going on here in our town.  That’s one of the big things the other thing is just keeping the roads open, keeping that infrastructure going with the sewer separation project, water lines, those are the two things that I am looking at.”

Maupin also stated that he believes we have a great town, but there are certain things that need to change, and he wants to be on the city council to help make those changes.

“We do have a great city, and there are always things that we can do better and there’s things we can work on.  But we really do have a great city and that’s part of my platform.”

Full Interviews with all three city council candidates will be available to listen to on KBUR this coming Thursday.
