Fort Madison, IA(WGEM)-  One of Southeast Iowa’s two Salvation Army thrift stores is closing

Salvation Army officials said the Fort Madison thrift store costs a lot of money to keep open and that money could go elsewhere.

Officials said the store’s purpose was to serve as a money-making opportunity for the local Salvation Army, but now it’s diverting funds from other important services.

They said the shutdown down won’t affect the Dimond Center or the services it offers.

The store plans to close November 15th.
