Wapello, Ia- At approximately 1:15 p.m. Wednesday Wapello Fire and Rescue was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident 3 miles north of Wapello. The incident involved a passenger car and a semi-tractor/trailer. Both vehicles were traveling south on Hwy 61 when the semi rear-ended the passenger car. One patient required extrication from the vehicle using the Jaws of Life.
According to the Wapello Fire and Rescue Facebook page, two occupants were transported to the hospital, one via Wapello Ambulance and one via Med-Force 2 Air Ambulance. Also assisting Wapello Fire and Rescue at the scene were, Wapello Ambulance, Louisa County Sheriff’s Department, Wapello Police Department, Midwest Towing and Recovery, and Med-Force 2 Air Ambulance from Great River Medical Center. No patient names or information has been released
