Colo, Ia. (The Des Moines Register)— Two people were found dead Wednesday morning in what police are investigating as a murder-suicide in Story County.
Around 9:30 a.m., the Story County Sheriff’s Office received a call about two deceased people at a home in the 200 block of Oak Street in Colo, according to a news release.
Wednesday afternoon Story County Sheriff’s Capt. Nicholas Lennie identified the deceased as 79-year-old Richard Davis, and his wife, 78-year-old Charlotte Davis.
Lennie said Wednesday afternoon that evidence indicates the incident was a murder-suicide involving a firearm.
“It does appear that there is some level of foul play involving a firearm,” Lennie said.
The news release from the sheriff’s office said the incident appears to be isolated and that no threat to the public exists.
The Story County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted in the investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations and was assisted on scene by the Colo First and Fire and Story County Medical Center
