Princeton, Ia (WQAD)-  Recreational marijuana has been legal in Illinois for just over two weeks, and Iowa police departments are keeping a close eye on drivers crossing the river from Illinois.

A National Bureau of Economic Research study shows that counties bordering states with legal recreational marijuana may see a sharp increase of possession arrests when drivers cross state lines.

Officers will be conducting traffic stops and field sobriety tests, under Iowa law, for any driver suspected to be under the influence of marijuana.
