Burlington House Fire

Burlington, Ia-  At approximately 2:10 AM Wednesday the Burlington Fire Department responded to a reported house fire at 2304 Gordon Street. Firefighters arrived at 2:17 to find light smoke coming from the 2-story wood-frame house. Firefighters discovered and contained a small fire above the ceiling of the kitchen near a light fixture.

Damage to the single-family home, owned and occupied by Allen Lock, is estimated at $10,000 to the structure and $5,000 to the contents. There were 3 additional occupants in the house at the time of the fire and all were able to escape without injury.

The fire remains under investigation by the Burlington Fire Department and is not considered suspicious, however it was discovered that the home did not have any smoke detectors.
