Condition of Cascade Bridge Update Meeting

Burlington, Ia-  With the future of Cascade bridge still in question, the engineering firm in charge of the evaluation of the bridge will be holding a meeting to present their findings to the public.

Impact 7G, the engineering firm in charge of evaluating the bridge, will present their findings on the condition of Cascade Bridge ahead of an official report.

The Meeting will be held at the Burlington Public Library on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 P.M.

Vehicle traffic for cascade bridge was closed over 10 years ago after a formal inspection brought its safety into question.  The bridge was then closed to foot traffic last year.

The City was required to pay a sum of $47,000 for the study, which was the only way the State Historical Society of Iowa would allow the bridge to be potentially torn down.  This is because the bridge, which was built in 1896 is on the registry of State historical places, and would need to be removed from that list in order for it to be demolished.
