Burlington, Ia-  The Burlington City council on Monday held their Third and Final vote on the plan to raise the wages of city council members.

The ordinance passed by a vote of 3 to 1, with councilman Bill Maupin being the only one to vote no.  Mayor Pro Tem Lynda Graham Murray was not present for the vote.

City Council wages after the next elections will see an increase from $500 per month to $750 per month for council members, and the mayor’s salary raised form $550 per month to $833 per month.

The Council emphasized at Monday’s meeting that these raises do not go into effect until after the next City Council Election.
