Burlington, Ia –  The group Friends of Cascade Bridge will be holding a meeting Thursday to present its findings to the community.

The nonprofit group Workin’ Bridges was hired by the Friends of Cascade to conduct an engineering study of the bridge to present possible solutions concerning the bridge.  Whether it be demolition and reconstruction or refurbishing the old bridge.

Impact 7G, an environmental impact group hired by the city to consult on the bridge, held a community meeting last week to answer questions from the public. The community members who attended the meeting were presented with historical information about the bridge, as well as information about rehabilitation, replacement, and removal of the bridge.

Initial estimates put repair costs of the bridge at $6 million to $9 million, though Friends of Cascade disputes these numbers.

The event will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at F & M bank in Burlington, 221 Jefferson St.
