West Burlington, Ia- On Wednesday at around 11:10 pm, the West Burlington Fire department was dispatched to a smoke alarm sounding and flames visible in an apartment at 701 E Pennington street.
West Burlington Police arrived to find smoke and flames coming from the kitchen of the apartment. A fire extinguisher was used to knock down the fire but flames were still visible.
Fire crews from Burlington and West Burlington Fire used water extinguishers to extinguish the remaining fire. Burlington Fire was released shortly after.
A single occupant was asleep at the time and the working smoke detector aided in alerting them to the fire. They escaped with no injuries. The other occupant was not home at the time.
