Burlington Man Arrested in Theft at Local Grocery

The Burlington Police Department reports,

On February 12 Burlington area man Christopher Allen Hartley, age 45 of Burlington, was arrested in Theft in the 1st Degree. Saturday, February 8th, 2020 Hyvee Grocery Store, located at 3140 Agency Street in Burlington, reported a theft in excess of $10,000.00. The Burlington Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division began investigating the incident and on Wednesday.

During the investigation, a search warrant was executed on Hartley’s property and several items, including a large sum of U.S. currency, were located and seized by Burlington Police Department.

Christopher Hartley was charged with Theft in the 1st Degree, a Class C Felony, and was then taken to the Des Moines County Correctional Center on a $10,000.00 bond pending a court appearance.

All suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
