Geneva M. Tutwiler, 85 of Dallas City, Illinois, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2020 at the Maple Grove at Hancock Village, Carthage, Illinois.

Geneva was born on July 23, 1934 in Durham Township the daughter of Allen and Dorothy Severns Thompson. On June 26, 1954 she married Lawrence E. “Tut” Tutwiler in Durham. He preceded her in death on January 5, 1999.

Geneva was a 1952 graduate of Dallas City High School. Following high school she attended Bill Hill’s School of Cosmetology. Geneva owned and operated her own beauty shop for more than 40 years. She was member of the Dallas City United Methodist Church and later the Durham United Methodist Church. She was active in the community, helping with the blood mobile and many civic activities.

Survivors include one son, Ron (Connie) Tutwiler of Dallas City; two brothers, Rich Thompson of Hamilton, Illinois and Larry Thompson of Macomb, Illinois. Also surviving is one niece and three nephews.

Mrs. Tutwiler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one daughter, Sandra Bustamate; one granddaughter, Jessamee Bustamate and one brother, Gary Thompson.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 5, 2020 at Banks & Beals Funeral Home in Dallas City, with Rev. Diane Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the Durham Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Roy Dale Jones, 79, of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, February 29, 2020, at the Burlington Care Center.

He was born March 18, 1940, in Clark County, MO.

Dale is survived by his wife, Wilma (Rusty); and left a loving family of three daughters, daughters, Becky (Scott) Bessine of Burlington, Patty (Paul) Bunnell of Montrose, and April Charles-Larned of Henderson, NV; step-children; grandchildren; nieces; nephews; and one sister, Arlene Cass.

Prugh Funeral Home is taking care of the arrangements. There will be no formal service.

Inurnment will be in the Green Glade Cemetery in the family plot.

John Martinez, 64, of Burlington, died at 5:12 AM Friday, February 28, 2020, at the Great River Hospice House.

Born October 22, 1955, in Fort Madison, he was the son of Fredy and Hope Maria Ortiz Martinez.

John worked at IAAP for over 20 years.

He was a 1974 graduate of Burlington High School.

John was a member of the Moose Lodge and Iowa State Sheriff’s Deputy Association. He enjoyed listing to a large array of music, and loved raising his Shelties.

Survivors include one sister, Anna Maria (Mike) Gordon of Plano, TX; one niece, Erin and two nephews, Shane and Ryan; one aunt, Carmen Bloanos of Arizona, and several cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Cremation has been entrusted to the care of Prugh Crematory.

The family will receive friends from 9:00 AM until 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2020 at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home.

The memorial service for Mr. Martinez will be 10:00 AM Friday, March 6, 2020, at Prugh~Thielen Funeral Home with Very Rev. Father Marty Goetz officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Ft. Madison following the service.
