First COVID-19 death in Iowa confirmed

Des Moines, Ia-  The Iowa Department of Public Health learned late Tuesday of the first death related to the novel coronavirus.

The individual was an older adult, between 61 and 80 years old, and a resident of Dubuque County.

This is the first death related to COVID-19 in the state of Iowa.

This news comes after Governor Reynolds held a press conference where she and a top official from the department of public health were not considering a “shelter in place order at the time.
