22-year-old Abby Curtis is the new “Miss Burlington”. She was crowned yesterday at the Comfort Inn & Suites in Burlington. The Muscatine area woman won the talent competition with a song by country singer Martina McBride. She walked away with a $600 scholarship, which she plans to use at St. Ambrose University. Man Attempts to Cross Mississippi River on Ice

He is lucky to be alive. That’s what Burlington’s Battalion Chief Bruce Workman had to stay about the call he received earlier today… “I was notified by our dispatch that there was a person out on the ice and that he was going to Illinois, but was coming back .
