Keokuk Man Arrested for Illegal Narcotics

The Lee County Narcotics Task Force has arrested a Keokuk man on felony drug charges. 35-year-old Cliffton Fields was arrested in Hancock county earlier this week and was extradited to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office to face drug charges. He was arrested for three counts of a Drug Tax Stamp Violation, two counts of Delivery of Marijuana within 1,000 feet of a public park, and Delivery of Marijuana. Identities Stolen at Iowa Target Stores

There’s no word yet on how many Iowans may have had their identities compromised by shopping at Target stores in the past few weeks. The Target stores in our area are located in West Burlington, Ottumwa, and Galesburg. Radio Iowa’s Matt Kelley reports:

The Twin Cities-based retailer confirms, as many as 40-million customers may be at risk after a security breach that started on Black Friday and wasn’t discovered until this past Sunday. Target has 22 stores in Iowa. The company says the breach only impacted customers who were swiping their cards in person at the checkout and online customers were evidently safe. Continue Reading

Freezing Rain and Winter Weather Headed to SE Iowa

The National Weather Service is advising many counties in southeast Iowa of some weather heading out way that could be dangerous to drivers. There is a freezing rain advisory from midnight tonight to 6am tomorrow morning for Des Moines, Henry, Jefferson, Washington, Van Buren, and Louisa counties in Iowa. Man Living in Burlington Arrested for Child Porn

A man from Muscatine, who was living in Burlington, has been arrested for child pornography by Burlington Detectives. 57-year-old Alan Walker was accused back in February of having pornographic pictures of children ages 1-8 on his computer. Ā Burlington Detectives were notified of the incident back in February, obtained the man’s computer which then underwent forensic analysis by the Internet Crime Against Children Task Force. Analysis revealed that there were around 600 pornographic images of children engaged in sexual acts. During the investigation, Walker moved to Muscatine where Burlington detectives went and arrested him today. Continue Reading

Wanted Man on the Run

The Warren County (IL) Sheriff’s Department is asking for the public’s help in finding a young man who’s wanted in connection with some violet crimes. 20-year-old Jason Tiedemann is believed to be commuting between Monmouth and Galesburg. He’s white, about 5-9, and 190 pounds with light brown hair. He’s wanted for “failing to register as a violent offender against youth”, and domestic battery. New Illinois Laws

Several new laws will take effect January 1st in Illinois. Two may be particularly hard habits to break. Throwing a cigarette butt on the ground will now be considered littering in the state. Also, talking on the phone while driving will be illegal. Illinois State Police are reminding motorists that unless you are using a hands free or voice operated mode on your phone, you will be fined for holding it up to your ear and driving with one hand on the wheel. WB Looking to Have a Police Officer in School

Having a police officer in the West Burlington School buildings was discussed once again at tonight’s school board meeting. None were opposed to the idea, but most members were concerned with the cost, and wanted detailed pros and cons of having an SRO. Siemens Receives Order for 448 Wind Turbines

Today MidAmerican Energy and Siemens announced the largest wind expansion in Iowa’s history. MidAmerican has placed an order with the Fort Madison company to make all the blades for 448 wind turbines the company is installing in Iowa. At today’s press conference, Governor Terry Branstad discussed the impact it will have on the economy… “1,000 construction jobs will be added to Iowa’s economy during the next two years of the construction period. 448 new wind turbines and 40 new permanent jobs will be added.” Continue Reading


Keokuk Man Arrested on Meth Charges

A young Keokuk man has been arrested on felony drug charges. 26-year-old James Chaney of Keokuk was arrested in Denmark by the Lee County Narcotics Task Force. He has been charged with Manufacturing of Meth is Excess of Five Grams and Delivery of Meth. If convicted, Chaney faces 35 years in prison. Continue Reading
