Marcelle Ilene Brown, 84, of Burlington, died at 10:02 PM Sunday, June 1, 2014, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born October 3, 1929, in Des Moines County, she was the daughter of George W. and Alta Benkert Riemann. On March 3, 1949, she married Lloyd William Brown in Kingston. He died July 30, 1995.

Mary R. O’Day, 88 years, of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 4:10 pm Friday, May 30, 2014 at her daughter’s home in Burlington, Iowa. She
was born January 23, 1926 at Luray, Missouri, a daughter of Archie James and Estelle Maude (Weaver) Hawkins. On April 18, 1944, she married Carmen Willis O’Day at Palymra, Missouri. He preceded her in death.

Dennis Lee Parsons, 53, of Burlington, died at 1:30 PM Tuesday, May 27, 2014, at the Parkview of Wellman in Wellman, Iowa. Born January 18, 1961, in Monmouth, IL, he was the son of Jack and Mary June Dennis Parsons. Dennis was a service manager in the automotive industry. Ivan C. “Bud” Covington, 93, of Dallas City, IL passed away at 10:42a.m. Monday, May 26, 2014 at his home. Bud was born on April 21, 1921 in Nauvoo, IL the son of Harry and Dorothy Arletta Argast Covington. On August 15, 1941 he married E. Ruth Miller in Dallas City. Morris “Honey” Lewis Jr., 71, of Burlington, Iowa, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, May 24, 2014 after a courageous battle of small cell carcinoma. Born on February 27, 1943 in Luxora, Arkansas, he was the son of Morris and Lessie Garrett Lewis Sr. He married Gail Ann Galbreath on July 17, 1993 in Keokuk, Iowa. Morris was the 6th child of 21 children. He was a brake press operator at GE. “Honey” enjoyed time with his wife and family, church, fishing, gardening, his pet Reba Mae, blues and gospel music, watching wrestling, basketball, football and TV. James Thomas “Jim” Lynch, 81, of Burlington, passed away after a brief illness at 8:10 PM Tuesday, May 20, 2014, at the home of his daughter surrounded by his family.
Born July 14, 1932, in Minneapolis, MN, he was the son of George Thomas and Ida Lynch. The family moved to Burlington while Jim was in his teens. Born on November 1, 1930 in Cloquet, Minnesota, she was the daughter of John D. “Toge” and Eula Spencer Rogentine. She was married to Harold Wright who preceded her in death in 1963. Born August 22, 1929, in Burlington, he was the son of Edward Timothy and Gertrude Agnes McKeever Connors.
Edward worked at Georgia Pacific where he retired.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran stationed in Germany immediately after World War II.

Dorothy Elaine Dean, 80, of Mediapolis, died at 3:30 PM Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at the Prairie Ridge Care & Rehabilitation in Mediapolis. Born February 8, 1934, in Columbus City, IA, she was the daughter of Harlan Clinton and Lucy Pauline Hanft Fletcher. On June 24, 1950, she married Delbert Allen Dean in Iowa City. Dorothy worked at Sylvania for four years and then was a school bus driver for the Mediapolis Community School for 25 years. Mark Dennis Duncan, 61 of New London, Iowa, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday May 14, 2014 in the New London Nursing & Rehab Center. He was born March 2, 1953 in Burlington, Iowa, the son of Robert and Doris Hicks Duncan.
Mr. Duncan was a heavy equipment operator at Burlington River Terminal for many years.
Survivors include his mother- Doris Duncan of Stronghurst, IL, one sister, Sherry (Dennis) Warrington of Navarre, FL, one brother, Mike (Diane) Duncan of Media, IL, two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his father. Continue Reading →
