The funeral service for Mrs. Marilynn Prins, 91, of New London, will be held at 10;30 A.M. Saturday at Elliott Chapel, New London. Darlene Angell Bentler, 81 years, of Houghton, Iowa died at 12:21 pmWednesday, October 23, 2013 at the Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born January 1, 1932 at Hamilton, Illinois, a daughter of George Edward and Ina Isabel (Smith) Angell, Sr. On August 7, 1951, she married Gervase W. Bentler in St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fort Madison, Iowa. They had eight children. They divorced after 28 years.
Her family moved to Fort Madison, Iowa, where she was raised. Before she married, she worked at Interstate Wholesale Lumber Company, in FortMadison. Charlotte Ann Jackson, age 48, of Wapello, died Sunday evening, October 20, 2013, at the Great River Medical Center in West Burlington. The daughter of David Wagner and Beverly Brown, she was born on April 29, 1965 in Iowa City. She married Stephen Jackson. She worked for a couple years as an aide helper at the Lutheran Homes in Muscatine. She was a homemaker. Her family includes a daughter, Samantha Blake of Muscatine; a granddaughter, Shealynn; her mother and step-father, Beverly & Bert Finley of Wapello; her father, David Wagner of Muscatine; her ex-husband, Stephen Jackson of Burlington; two brothers, Rick Brown of Wapello and James Wagner, Sr. of Muscatine; and two sisters, Rita Sparrow of Winfield and Tina Wagner of Tacoma, Washington. She was preceded in death by her grandparents. A graveside service will be held at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, October 22, 2013, at the Edwards Cemetery in Oakville with Rev. Darryl Erickson officiating. Betty Jo Rowe, age 82, of Grandview, died Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Mercy Hospice, Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. The daughter of Glen and Ellen Dunphy Beik, she was born on July 10, 1931 near Letts. She married Lawrence ‘Babe’ Rowe on February 26, 1950 in Grandview. Betty Jo attended the Letts school through part of second grade and then completed and graduated from Grandview High School in 1948. She was a homemaker and had worked at several part time jobs throughout her lifetime. She was a member of the Grandview Community Bible Church, the Grandview Women’s Club, and the Amicus Club of Grandview. She enjoyed knitting, reading, cooking, baking, and collecting spoons. Her family includes her husband, Babe; two daughters, Nancy & Earl ‘Mac’ McGill of Letts and Becky & Herb Eutsler of Cotter; three sons, Larry & Kim Rowe of Hagerstown, Maryland, Denny & Kris Rowe of Muscatine, and Tony & Carrie Rowe of Virginia Beach, Virginia; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; a sister, Marie Murray of Columbus Junction; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Mildred Bieri; a brother, Harlan Beik; and two great grandsons, Derek and William. Born on January 1, 1921 in Benton Township, Des Moines County, Iowa, he was the son of Benjamin and Mary Taeger Schmeiser. He was one of nine children which included: Mildred Moore, Ethel Dixon, Edyth Bresch, Paul, Loren, Allen, Myron and George Schmeiser.

Betty A. Hutchcroft, age 89, of Mediapolis, died Tuesday evening, October 8, 2013, at the GreatRiver Hospice House in West Burlington. The daughter of PearlI. and Ola A. Beck Gabeline, she was born on October 14, 1923 in Yarmouth. She married Charles ‘Chuck’ Hutchcroft on July 29, 1945 in Mediapolis.
Betty graduated from YarmouthHigh School in 1941 and attended BurlingtonJunior College. She was a homemaker and enjoyed helping on the farm. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the UMW and church circles, American Legion Auxiliary, Sunshine Club, TTT, and King’s Daughters all of Mediapolis.
Betty was an excellent cook and she enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and gardening. She will always be remembered for her devotion to her family, especially to her grandchildren and great grandchildren and all of their activities.
Her family includes her husband, Chuck; a daughter, Lynn & Bill Carlson of Burlington; two sons, Tom & Maureen Hutchcroft of Keokuk and Tim & Deb Hutchcroft of Mediapolis; four grandchildren, Curt Carlson, Angie & Matt Shriver, Kristin & Lance Eland, and Krystal & Ryan McLain; and nine great grandchildren.
