Neil Allen, age 83, or rural Morning Sun, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the GreatRiverMedicalCenter in West Burlington. The son of Noel and Elta Garvey Allen, he was born on July 18, 1930 in Roseville, Ohio. He married Jill Ellen Henry on June 18, 1955 in Kearney, Nebraska.
Jerry graduated from RosevilleHigh School in Ohio. He attended ValparaisoCollege in Indiana. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict. He worked for GE as a Quality Control Engineer.
He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge in Lynchburg, Virginia and a member of the Mediapolis Lions Club. He enjoyed woodcarving, especially creating miniature clocks, doing crosswords, and computer activities.
His family includes his wife, Jill; a son, Charles Allen of Morning Sun; two daughters, Jane & Tom Cranston of Coralville and Nancy & Owen Ryder of Quebec, Canada; four grandchildren, Jessica & Jason Clark, Robert ‘RJ’ Hergert, Eric Pershing, and Carter Pershing; four great grandchildren, Sierra Rose, Christopher, Lea, and Ashley; a sister, Susan Horn of Georgia; a sister-in-law, Helen Allen of Brazil, Indiana; and an extended family including Luke & Anne-Mie Van Zandvliet of Belgium, Cory Dergance & Jason Darnell of Peru, Illinois, Bradley Murphy of Hephzibah, Georgia, Ann & Homer Keith of Cambridge, Ohio, and Rusty Johnson of Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Noel; and two half-sisters, Dorothy Darnell and Jean Read.
The family will meet friends on Sunday, September 29, 2013, from 4:00 to 6:00 PM at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis. The funeral ceremony will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, September 30, 2013, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home with Rev. Jerleen Schlesser officiating. Luellen Mae ‘Lu’ Richenberger, age 53, of Morning Sun, died Monday, September 23, 2013, at her home. The daughter of Robert and Lura Tucker McDonald, she was born on December 22, 1959 in Burlington. She married Ron Richenberger on October 3, 1981 in Morning Sun.
Lu graduated from Burlington High School in 1978. She was an activity director and CNA at the Morning Sun Care Center and had worked in construction for Wilson Concrete and more recently at Grimm Bros. in Wapello.
She enjoyed painting, crocheting, crafting, and Cruise Night. Lu was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Morning Sun, had served on the Morning Sun Volunteer Fire Department and was an EMT with the Morning Sun Community Ambulance Service. She had coached Little League Softball with her daughters.

Carolyn Ross Latty Stebbins of Burlington died Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Great River Hospice House, West Burlington, Iowa. She was born January 1, 1940 at Burlington, Iowa the daughter of John Penny and Helen Gregson Coe Latty. On February 11, 1978 she married James Henry Stebbins in Burlington. Mrs. Stebbins attended grade school at Latty School and was a 1957 graduate of Sperry High School, attended Parsons College in Fairfield, Iowa for 1 ½ years and was a 1959 graduate of Burlington Junior College and a 1963 graduate of the University of Iowa College of Nursing in Iowa City. After graduation she worked at the University Hospital in Iowa City, taught in the School of Nursing at Burlington Medical Center and was Director of Admissions at BMC for 13 years. She was a member of Delta Zeta Sorority at Parsons College where she lived in the Sorority House. In her younger years she was a member of First Congregational Church of Burlington where she was a member of Congregators and served several terms as a Deaconess on the Diaconate Board. She was a 25 plus year member of the What-So-Ever- Circle of Kings Daughters. She was a past Worthy Matron of White Star Chapter of Eastern Star in Mediapolis and later was a member of the E.C. Blackmar Chapter of Eastern Star in Burlington. During her years in Eastern Star she held several offices including Worthy Matron and also was a District Instructor in Iowa. Mrs. Stebbins enjoyed traveling and was a lover flowers and working in her many flower beds. Dale Eugene Anderson, 91 years, of McDonald, Tennessee and formerly of Fort Madison, Iowa died at 1:10 amSaturday, September 14, 2013 at the Life Care of Collegedale, Tennessee. He was born June 28, 1922 at New London, Iowa, a son of Earl and June (Mathews) Anderson. He first married Lois Eichholz. They later divorced. On October 8, 1983, he married Joye Bess Gresham Counts at Fort Madison, Iowa. She preceded him in death July 23, 2004.
He worked for True Temper for 12 years, then at the Crandon Paper Mill for 27 years. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Montrose. He loved to pitch horseshoes, fish, sing, dance, and play musical instruments.
He is survived by three children: Charlotte Anderson, of McDonald, Tennessee; Roger (wife Kathy) Anderson, of Fort Madison, Iowa; and Vicky Van Winkle, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one stepson, Mark (wife Liz) Counts, of Fort Madison, Iowa; nine grandchildren; two step grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and one sister, Mazie Englehart, of Minnesota. He is preceded in death by his parents, wife and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 6:00 – 7:00 pmTuesday, September 17, 2013 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, FortMadison with a Christian Wake Service at 7:00 pm Tuesday evening.
