The Iowa Wesleyan College Concert Choir, under the direction of Dr. Bradley Miller, will present its 2013 spring tour home concert on Thursday, February 28, at 11 a.m. The concert will be held in the Chapel Auditorium on the Iowa Wesleyan campus. Admission is free.
The concert follows the annual tour. It features a variety of choral music selections, including Morton Laurdisen’s Sure on this Shining Night, Ola Gjeilo’s evocative Northern Lights, and Paul Manz’s beloved anthem E’en So, Lord Jesus, Quickly Come.
The Iowa Wesleyan College Broad Street Connection, a select vocal jazz ensemble, will also perform a number of selections on the program. Dr. Joel Brown, professor emeritus of piano at Iowa Wesleyan College, will perform solo piano works by Frederic Chopin.
The Concert Choir, one of seven performing ensembles at the college, tours domestically every spring and has toured internationally twice in recent years. The choir is comprised of 40 singers, representing a wide variety of majors offered at the college. Ten of the members are music majors.
Dr. Bradley Miller joined the Iowa Wesleyan College faculty as Director of Choral and Vocal Activities in the fall of 2011. He earned a B.A. in music education from Concordia College (Moorhead, MN), an M.M. in choral conducting from the University of Minnesota, and a D.M.A. in choral conducting from The University of Arizona.
