Keokuk, IA-  ADM Milling has announced it is closing its Keokuk plant permanently.

ADM announced the plant closure on Friday, August 26th.

TV Station WGEM reports that, according to Keokuk City Manager Cole O’Donnell the company is seeking to sell the facility in the near future.  The City of Keokuk will be working with ADM and the Lee County Economic Development group to find prospective buyers for the plant.

According to O’Donnell, the city had been working with ADM to address problems with the plant’s wastewater pretreatment, which had seen multiple problems resulting in the city’s facility being in noncompliance of its discharge permit.

Keokuk Mayor Kathie Mahoney issued a statement saying the City of Keokuk is working with local and state officials to find a company to replace ADM.
