Peter “Lil Pete” Hageman, 81, of Burlington, died at 3:59 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.
Born February 2, 1933, in Lake City, MN, he was the son of Leo and Florence Blaisdell Hageman. On September 27, 1957, he married Joyce R. Goble in Burlington.
Peter worked as a foreman for Neolke-Lyons and then worked in production at Champion Spark Plug where he retired as a foreman. Continue Reading →
Michael Loyal Butler, age 51 of Mediapolis, died Saturday February 1, 2014 at Burlington. The son of Marion and Joyce (Charbonneaux) Butler, he was born May 31, 1962 at Burlington. He was a 1980 graduate of the MediapolisHigh School. He was a self employed paint contractor. He enjoyed gardening, decorating for holidays, outdoor activities and traveling. He was an avid Pittsburg Steeler and Alabama fan.
Survivors include: his mother Joyce of Mediapolis; one daughter Danielle Lacey of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister Tana Butler and Tim Bollinger of Chicago; grandmother Joy Charbonneaux of Burlington. He was preceded in death by grandparents, his Father, and daughter Amber Arnold.
Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis. A memorial service will be Friday February 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home. A general memorial has been established in his name. Continue Reading →
Kimberly Kay Duque, 54, of Burlington, Iowa, died at her home on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
Born on March 15, 1959 in Pontiac, Illinois, she was the daughter of Gerald W. Smith and Judith Day.
Kim served in the United States Air Force from 1980 – 1983 under honorable conditions with the rank of E4, Senior Airman. She lived in Germany with her family on a military base from 1988-1992. Marceline L. Marsh, age 88, of Wapello, died Friday evening, January 31, 2014, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center. The daughter of Charles and Cassa Clark Marsh, she was born on March 30, 1925 in Aldon, Minnesota.
Marceline graduated from Aldon High School in Minnesota and from the University of Minnesota as a Register Nurse. She retired as an ICU nurse from Nebraska Methodist Hospital in Omaha. Marceline enjoyed gardening and flowers, board games and cards, pets, especially her cats, and the outdoors, including fishing.
She is survived by nieces and nephews including two nephews, Randy & Cindy Skipton of Bettendorf and Milo Skipton of Wapello. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Allen Marsh; and a sister, Donna Skipton. The funeral ceremony for Marceline Marsh will be held at 1:00 PM on Friday, February 7, 2014, at the Dudgeon-McCulley Funeral Home in Wapello with Rev. Pam Kranzler officiating. There will be no other visitation other than the gathering for the funeral. The burial will be at the Springfield City Cemetery in Springfield, Minnesota with her parents. Michael Gard, 44, of Burlington, died at 11:40 PM Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.
Born November 4, 1969, in Burlington, he was the son of Ralph Gordon and Sharon Cecilia Bednar Gard.
Mike worked in food service at several area restaurants.

Robert Lee (Bob) Ivins, age 93 of Morning Sun, died Saturday January 25, 2014 at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The son of Charles C. and Lillie (Bentzinger) Ivins, he was born December 12, 1920 on a farm near Donnellson, Iowa. On June 8, 1947 he married Shirley Winblad in Burlington; she died in 2000. He worked for the CCC (Civilian Conservation Corps) in 1936. He served in the US Army during W.W. II, stationed in Australia, New Guinea, and Philippines. He also served in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Iowa Southern Utilities for 43 years as a district lineman. He served on the Morning Sun city council. Bob enjoyed dancing, gambling, blue grass music, history, listening to the radio and watching Jeopardy. He loved animals of all types and in particular cats and dogs. He always enjoyed a good joke or two. His attributes would be helping others, sense of humor, generosity, kindness and humility. Continue Reading →
