Survivors: He is survived by his mother, Helen Bechtel of Burlington, Iowa; two sons, Eric (Katie Garcia) Lee and Sean (Adrienne) Lee, both of Burlington, Iowa; two daughters, Shannon (David) Kroll of Nashville, Tennessee and Bobbie (Tom) Cobb of Houston, Texas; four grandchildren, Josh, Brittany, Preston and Caden; one great-granddaughter, Avery; one brother, Ron (Sheryl) Lee of Burlington, Iowa; one nephew, Tristin; one step-brother, Fred Bechtel Jr. of Burlington, Iowa; several cousins; and his pet daschund, Joey.
Memorial Service: for Tommy Lee will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 4:00 p.m. at Prugh’s Chapel. Mr. Mark McBride will officiate.
Other arrangements: The family will receive friends in Prugh’s Chapel from 3:00 until 4:00 p.m. Following the service a Memorial Jam Session will be held at The Washington, Burlington, Iowa. J. Fredric ‘Doc’ Roules, MD, age 86 of Mediapolis, died Saturday morning, March 1, 2014, at Trinity Rock Island, Illinois. The son of James and Sadie Anthony Roules, he was born on January 21, 1928 in Fairfield. He married Margaret Miller on September 12, 1953 in Big Mound.
He graduated from FairfieldHigh School in 1946. He joined the US Army and served in the Army of Occupation in Japan, returning to attend ParsonsCollege, graduating in 1951. He received his MD from the University of Iowa in 1954 and served an Internship at Broadlawns Hospital in Des Moines. Dr. Roules served as a Family Practice Physician in Mediapolis from 1955 until retiring in 1993.
‘Doc’ Roules was a longtime and active member and supporter of the FirstUnitedMethodistChurch in Mediapolis and a member of the Mediapolis Lions Club and the American Legion in Mediapolis. He worked with the Emergency Medical Services in Mediapolis and was active for many years with the Burlington Medical Society.
He loved photography, travelling, flying, and roses. Continue Reading
William Karl “Bill” Gullberg, Sr. age 88 of Stronghurst, Illinois died at 11:30 a.m.Saturday March 1, 2014 at Great River Hospice House in West Burlington, Iowa. He was born December 18, 1925, on the Stoot Farm northeast of Youngstown, Warren County, Illinois, the son of Karl Arthur and Susie Brown Gullberg.
He was raised on a farm north of Ponemah, Illinois. He attended LibertySchool and graduated from KirkwoodHigh School in 1941.
During World War II, when the National Guard was called to war, the Illinois Militia was formed of grandkids and grandparents. Continue Reading

Patricia Ann Reynolds, 79, of Burlington, Iowa, died at her home under the loving care of Great River Home Hospice on Monday, February 24, 2014. Born on August 21, 1934 in Fort Madison, Iowa, she was the daughter of John and Hazel Wilson Junkins. She married Richard W. Reynolds on April 3, 1954 in Burlington, Iowa. Evelyn Grace Thompson, age 93, of Burlington, passed away Sunday afternoon, February 23, 2014, at the GreatRiverMedicalCenter in West Burlington. She was born to Chester Alan and Minnie Clara Wunnenberg McKeown in their home near Newport. She graduated from MediapolisHigh School and BurlingtonBusinessCollege. Evelyn married the late R. Kenneth ‘Ken’ Thompson on January 1, 1941 at Northfield where they raised their family on the farm until they sold the farm and enjoyed travel and volunteer work with group homes for youth in Iowa and Texas. Ken preceded her in death on September 30, 2003. Evelyn was an avid reader and was part of several Bible study groups. She enjoyed square dancing, singing in the Rural Women’s Choir and is best remembered for her homemade bread and knitting projects. She also enjoyed gardening and canning. She was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis and attended HeritageBaptistChurch after moving to Burlington. She is survived by her son Lee (Nancy) Thompson of Burlington; four grandchildren, Dr. Dale (Kim) Thompson of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Mary Thompson of Little Rock, Arkansas, David (Kim) Thompson of Stronghurst, Illinois, and Randy Thompson of Burlington; four great grandchildren; and two nieces in Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ken; a son, Alan; and a sister, Lucille. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Friday, February 28, 2014, at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis with the funeral to follow at 11:00 AM. Rev. Deb Kinney will officiate. Burial will follow at the KossuthCemetery and a lunch gathering will follow at the Apron Strings in Mediapolis. Born January 19, 1944, in Burlington, IA, he was the son of Kenneth Leroy and Alberta Edna Warner Hand. On December 31, 1986, he married Sally Jo Schwerin in McAllen, TX.
