Louise M. Kindig, 70, of Burlington, died at 10:24 AM Friday, February 14, 2014, at her home.  

Born June 13, 1943, in Greenport Long Island, NY, she was the daughter of Russell and Louise Smith Goodwin. In 1961 she married Jack Kindig, Sr. in Burlington.  He preceded her in death.

Obituaries Thursday February 13th

Bertha Margaret “Bertie”  Fedler, 92 years, of West Point, Iowa died at 5:30 pmTuesday, February 11, 2014 at the DonnellsonHealthCenter, Donnellson, Iowa.  She was born July 7, 1921 in rural Henry County, Iowa, a daughter of Conrad and Elizabeth (Rotter) Kruse.  On October 1, 1947, she married Louis Fedler in West Point.  He preceded her in death on June 25, 1999.  

Mrs. Fedler was a homemaker, seamstress, and gardener.  She also helped picked fruit at Faeth’s Orchards and was a bookkeeper for her husband’s gas delivery business.  She was a member of St. Mary’s of the Assumption  Catholic Church, the Daughters of Isabella, Altar and Rosary Society, American Legion Auxiliary, Fort Madison Women’s bowling association, and was a 4-H Club leader.  She enjoyed crocheting, embroidered, and bowled up till she was 85.  

She is survived by one son, Howard Fedler, of West Point, Iowa; one daughter, Vickie (husband Gary) Sanders, of West Point, Iowa; one daughter-in-law, Jane Fedler, of Fort Madison, Iowa; one brother, Cletus Kruse, of West Point, Iowa; three sisters:  Darlene Hellweg, of Donnellson, Iowa; Florence Menke, of St. Paul, Iowa; and Glorine Hellweg, of Fairfield, Iowa; 7 grandchildren: Amanda, Ashley, Steve, Brad, Pam, Rod, and Kim; 12 great grandchildren: Logan, Anaka, Mya, Kaleb, Ella, Dante, Lauren, Mason, Bianca, Olivia, Damion, and Cade; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.  She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one son, Conrad Fedler; one grandson, Doug Sanders; three brothers: Ernie Kruse, Richard Kruse, and Adrian Kruse; and two sisters, Marie Meierotto and Kathryn Meierotto. Albert Junior Siegrist, 85 years, of Keokuk, Iowa died at 1:00 pmMonday, February 10, 2014 at the KeokukAreaHospital, Keokuk, Iowa.  He was born May 14, 1928 at Lomax, Illinois, a son of Albert Carl and Mildred (Logan) Siegrist.  On November 14, 1951, he married Ruth Marie Yurth at Fort Madison, Iowa. 


For years he worked in the warehouse and later did inside sales for Wilkens Pipe and Supply in Keokuk, Iowa.  Prior to that he worked a period of time at Sheaffer Pen Company and also operated Hudson Oil in Alexandria, Missouri.  He was a member of the SeventhDayAdventistChurch, Fort Madison, Iowa.  He enjoyed golfing and spending time with his family.  

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Ruth Marie Siegrist, of Keokuk, Iowa; one son, Steven (wife Laura) Siegrist, of Warsaw, Illinois; three daughters: Lynn (husband Bob) Dorothy, of Keokuk, Iowa; Kim (husband Jay) Schneeberger, of Clinton, Iowa; and Stephanie (husband Kirk) Cameron, of Hamilton, Illinois; one brother, Donald Siegrist, of Niota, Illinois; one sister, Kathleen (husband Donald) Helling, of Mt. Hamill, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, one grandson, and one great granddaughter.  

Visitation will begin after 12:00 pmThursday, February 13, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, FortMadison where the family will greet friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm Thursday afternoon.  A funeral service will follow and be held at 2:00 pmThursday, February 13, 2014 at the Barr Memorial Chapel, with Pastor Dennis Mix, officiating.  Burial will be at OaklandCemetery, Fort Madison, Iowa.  Memorial contributions have been established for SeventhDayAdventistChurch. Peter “Lil Pete” Hageman, 81, of Burlington, died at 3:59 PM Tuesday, February 4, 2014, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.  

Born February 2, 1933, in Lake City, MN, he was the son of Leo and Florence Blaisdell Hageman. On September 27, 1957, he married Joyce R. Goble in Burlington.  

Peter worked as a foreman for Neolke-Lyons and then worked in production at Champion Spark Plug where he retired as a foreman. Continue Reading

Obituaries Wednesday February 5

Michael Loyal Butler, age 51 of Mediapolis, died Saturday  February 1, 2014  at Burlington.  The son of Marion and Joyce (Charbonneaux) Butler, he was born May 31, 1962 at Burlington.  He was a 1980 graduate of the MediapolisHigh School.  He was a self employed paint contractor.  He enjoyed gardening, decorating for holidays, outdoor activities and traveling.  He was an avid Pittsburg Steeler and Alabama fan.  
Survivors include:  his mother Joyce of Mediapolis; one daughter Danielle Lacey of Corpus Christi, Texas; one sister Tana Butler and Tim Bollinger of Chicago;  grandmother Joy Charbonneaux of Burlington. He was preceded in death by grandparents, his Father, and daughter Amber Arnold.  
Cremation has been accorded. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-7:00 p.m. at the Hagele and Honts Funeral Home in Mediapolis.  A memorial service will be Friday February 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Hagele and Honts Funeral Home.  A general memorial has been established in his name. Continue Reading

Kimberly Kay Duque, 54, of Burlington, Iowa, died at her home on Saturday, February 1, 2014.     
Born on March 15, 1959 in Pontiac, Illinois, she was the daughter of Gerald W. Smith and Judith Day. 
Kim served in the United States Air Force from 1980 – 1983 under honorable conditions with the rank of E4, Senior Airman. She lived in Germany with her family on a military base from 1988-1992. Following her military service she pursued a career with the Burlington Police Department. While at the police academy she was injured and unable to continue that career. Continue Reading
