Martha B. Miller

Martha B. Miller, 74, of LaHarpe, IL, passed away Friday, June 29, 2018 while vacationing in Mexico City, Mexico.

She was born on July 5, 1943 in Keokuk, IA the daughter of Delbert and Mary Gemming Wyatt. On December 22, 1963 she married Richard V. Miller in Swan Creek, IL.

Mrs. Miller was a 1961 graduate of Roseville High School. She then attended Western Illinois University and took courses through Illinois State University. She served as Librarian for 25 years at the LaHarpe Carnegie Library. She was responsible for automating the system at the Library and one of her favorite duties at the Library was overseeing children’s story hours. Martha was a member of the Chapter B.O. of the LaHarpe P.E.O. and the Good Hope United Methodist Church. She loved music, sewing, stitching projects and especially spending time with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Richard, one daughter, Sarah Kerfoot of Colchester, IL, four grandchildren, Konnor Bellmore of Scottsdale, AZ, Calvin Kerfoot, AJ Kerfoot and Brady Thomas all of Colchester, one sister, Mary Prueter of Macomb and one brother, James Wyatt of Good Hope, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Eric and two sisters, Ruth Shragal and Rebecca Stillwell. 

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at the Good Hope United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Herdt officiating. The family will meet with friends following the service in the church basement where light refreshments will be served. Burial will be held at a later date in the LaHarpe Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established for the Chapter B.O. of the LaHarpe P.E.O. or the Good Hope United Methodist Church Music Program. Marry “Patty” Koval

Mary “Patty” Louise (Bowling) Koval, 93, of Burlington, died at 2:15 AM Sunday, July 1, 2018, at the Great River Klein Center in West Burlington.

Born May 30, 1925, in Burlington, Iowa, she was the daughter of Harry and Rosa Moyers Powell. On September 26, 1942, she married Lawrence “Larry” Bowling. He died on September 21, 1969. She later married Robert J. Koval on November 23, 1973. He died on December 22, 2008.
Mary worked as a supervisor and inspector for Chittenden and Eastman.
She enjoyed playing the Lottery and watching Family Feud and Wheel of Fortune. She loved to feed all the neighborhood animals, from cats to her favorite ground squirrel. She always had a small garden and a love for yellow roses. Most of all she enjoyed going on rides with her dog, Samantha and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her four children, Barbara (Greg) McPherson of Lake Havasu City, AZ, Gary (Connie) Bowling of Yuma, AZ, Tom (Susan) Bowling, Sr. of West Burlington, IA, Deborah (Nic) Rexing of Beaverton, OR; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; four siblings, Marjorie Williams, Jimmy Powell, Nancy Blain, Linda Jenkins, and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established for Great River Hospice.
