Blaine Jones, 56, of LaHarpe, IL passed away at 8:08 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, IL. Patricia Ellen Hillgartner, 77, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Great River Medical Center, West Burlington. Funeral services for Mrs. Hillgartner will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Elliott Chapel, New London.  Pastor David Huskey will officiate.  Burial will be in Jaggar Cemetery, rural Danville.  Visitation will begin at noon on Friday, March 20 with the family receiving friends from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Chapel.  A memorial has been established. Obituaries Thursday March 19th

James ‘JimmyD’ Franklin Deitrick, age 61, of Mediapolis, died Thursday morning March 19, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington.  The son of Franklin A. and Elaine Ann Scott Deitrick, he was born on January 26, 1954 in Burlington.  He married Dana Pfafflin and they later divorced.  

He graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1972.  James worked in building construction first with Lloyd Schofield and later Bob Johnson, then US Gypsum, and then Carl A. Nelson.  He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis and also enjoyed fellowship at the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis.  

James ‘JimmyD’ enjoyed baseball and golf along with all the Mediapolis sports.  He played for the River Chiefs Football in Burlington and coached baseball.  He also enjoyed morning coffee at Apron Strings and sharing stories.  ‘JimmyD’ loved being with his children and grandchildren.  He never met a stranger.  

His family includes his father, Franklin Deitrick of Mediapolis; a daughter, Michele & Ramondo ‘Doe’ Randle of Burlington; a son, Jeremy Deitrick of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Taylor and Tristan Randle; two sisters, Debbie & Matthew Smithson of Waxahachie, Texas and Rochelle ‘Shelly’ & Rich Yotter of Oakville; and two brothers, Robert & Rhonda Deitrick of Burlington and Dale ‘Dutch’ & Denise Deitrick of Mediapolis.  He was preceded in death by his mother, Elaine. Richard M. Luttenegger, 81, Burlington died Sunday 3/15 at the Great River Medical Center. He is survived by his wife, Elaine,  3 sons, Terry, Kevin and Brian, a daughter Angela Luttenegger, 9 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild. Bill Wellman, 63, of Burlington, died at 2:59 AM Monday, March 16, 2015, at his home.  

Born May 3, 1951, in Fort Madison, IA, he was the son of Andrew Bernard and Helen Sarah Bradford Wellman. On February 16, 1974, he married Enid VanCleave in Fort Madison, IA.  

Bill previously worked for Carquest Auto Parts and had been working for Shopko delivering prescriptions.  

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, drag racing, target shooting, his puppies, and especially spending time with his family. Continue Reading

Donna M. Hofeldt, 78, of Bettendorf, died at 2:56 PM Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City.  

Born October 14, 1936, in Burlington, she was the daughter of Raymond F. and Leonida E. Brueck Orth.  

Donna worked in the custodial department of the Davenport School System for 20 years before retiring in 2002.  

She was a 1954 graduate of Burlington Catholic High School.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 16, 2015 at Elliott Chapel, New London.  Pastor Brad Cranston will officiate.  Burial will be in Sheridan Cemetery, rural Mt. Karen Sue Quigley Dill, ARNP, age 60, of Morning Sun, died Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center in Wapello.  She was born on April 23, 1954 in Panama City, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Iowa.  

Following cremation a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 310 N. Johnson St., Iowa City.  Rev. Robert Elgin will officiate.  

A light reception at the church will follow the service.

Matthew William Hallman, 52, of Burlington, Iowa, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning, March 7, 2015 surrounded by family. Born on December 14, 1962 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Bill Hallman and M. Diane Wilson Mansheim. Matt was a 1981 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He studied Forestry at Muscatine Community College and attended Dade County Community College. He earned a B.S. in Industrial Technology from Western Illinois University in 1996; and an LPN degree from Southeastern Community College. Continue Reading
