James ‘JimmyD’ Franklin Deitrick, age 61, of Mediapolis, died Thursday morning March 19, 2015, at the Great River Hospice House in West Burlington. The son of Franklin A. and Elaine Ann Scott Deitrick, he was born on January 26, 1954 in Burlington. He married Dana Pfafflin and they later divorced.
He graduated from Mediapolis High School in 1972. James worked in building construction first with Lloyd Schofield and later Bob Johnson, then US Gypsum, and then Carl A. Nelson. He was a member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Mediapolis and also enjoyed fellowship at the First United Methodist Church in Mediapolis.
James ‘JimmyD’ enjoyed baseball and golf along with all the Mediapolis sports. He played for the River Chiefs Football in Burlington and coached baseball. He also enjoyed morning coffee at Apron Strings and sharing stories. ‘JimmyD’ loved being with his children and grandchildren. He never met a stranger.
His family includes his father, Franklin Deitrick of Mediapolis; a daughter, Michele & Ramondo ‘Doe’ Randle of Burlington; a son, Jeremy Deitrick of St. Louis, Missouri; two grandchildren, Taylor and Tristan Randle; two sisters, Debbie & Matthew Smithson of Waxahachie, Texas and Rochelle ‘Shelly’ & Rich Yotter of Oakville; and two brothers, Robert & Rhonda Deitrick of Burlington and Dale ‘Dutch’ & Denise Deitrick of Mediapolis. Karen Sue Quigley Dill, ARNP, age 60, of Morning Sun, died Tuesday morning, March 10, 2015, at the Wapello Nursing & Rehab Center in Wapello. She was born on April 23, 1954 in Panama City, Florida and was a lifelong resident of Iowa.
Following cremation a funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, March 13, 2015, at the Zion Lutheran Church, 310 N. Johnson St., Iowa City. Rev. Robert Elgin will officiate.
A light reception at the church will follow the service.

Matthew William Hallman, 52, of Burlington, Iowa, died peacefully at home on Saturday morning, March 7, 2015 surrounded by family. Born on December 14, 1962 at Mercy Hospital in Burlington, Iowa, he was the son of Bill Hallman and M. Diane Wilson Mansheim. Matt was a 1981 graduate of Notre Dame High School. He studied Forestry at Muscatine Community College and attended Dade County Community College.
