The loss came after the Bees were leading 2-1 going in to the seventh inning. They play again tonight.

St Louis Cardinals have also dropped two straight, they lost to the Reds 1-0 last night, it was the first time the Reds have won two in a row against St. Louis since 2006.

Chicago Cubs downed the Colorado Rockies 3-2. Cubs starter John Lester struck out 14 batters in the win.

The Kansas City Royals were belted by the desperate Cleveland Indians 12-1. The Indians broke a six game winless home streak.

Former Burlington Bee Eric Hosmer hit a game-winning home run as Kansas City beat Cleveland 2-1. St. Louis Cardinals fell to the Cincinnati Reds 4-0. Chicago Cubs lost to the Rockies 7-2. Twins fell to the Pirates 8-7.

Patriots Quarterback Tom Brady’s appeal of his four game suspension for allegedly being aware that balls were deflated below regulation limits during the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts has been denied by NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Brady will miss the first four games of the season after taking nearly every single snap last season.

It was their first appearance in the tournament, marred by a five-hour rain delay that began in the sixth inning.

A Kolten Wong Grand Slam Home Run was the Key to the Cardinal’s success against the Reds last night. They won 4-1. Kansas City Royals downed the Indians 9-4. White Sox beat the Red Sox 10-8. Cubs beat the Rockies 9-1.

Burlington Bees play tonight on the road against Midwest League-leading Kane County.

The US Olympic Committee officially severed ties with the City of Boston, which was a candidate city for the 2024 Olympic Games. They say they’ll be looking at Los Angeles next as a possible host city. The winning host city for the 2024 Olympics won’t be announced until 2017.

Royals beat the Astros 5-1, Cubs fell to the Phillies, 11-5, White Sox beat the Indians 2-1, they moved out of last place in the AL Central Division. Twins fell to the Yankees, 7-2, Cardinals lost to the Braves, 3-2.

Kyle Busch drove to a win at the Brickyard 400 for his fourth Sprint Cup win of the season at Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Busch missed the first 11 races of the season to a broken leg, but now has won four of the last five Sprint Cup Races.

And a British cyclist, Chris Froome, won the Tour De France yesterday following weeks of cycling across the country. He’s won two of the last three.

New London will play River Valley in the third place game today.

Burlington Bees took a road series with a win over Beloit last night, 6-5. They’re at 11 and 17 on the season’s second half. They return home to play the Quad Cities tonight.

Cardinals and Royals, the best teams in the National and American league, respectively, slugged it out last night. Cardinals won by a hair, 4-3 following a Kansas City rally in the 9th inning. Twins blanked the Angels 3-0. White Sox beat the Indians 8-1.

The Cougars downed the Bees 5-3. Bees play league-worst Clinton tonight. The Lumberkings have managed to win only 7 games the second half of the season. They’ve lost 27.

It was a 9-8 win for the Cardinals over the Rockies last night, thanks in no small part to two Matt Carpenter homers. Kansas City fell to Toronto 5-2. Chicago White Sox lost to the Red Sox 8-2. The Cubs beat the Brewers 5-2, taking advantage of an Anthony Rizzo three-run home run.

In state baseball action Mason City Newman will be taking on Pleasantville in the Class 1A state finals, Waterloo-Columbus will take on Clear Lake in Class 2A’s finals. Clear Lake beat Davis County in the Semifinals with a score of 20 to 1 in a game that lasted only four innings.

Meanwhile, Mount Pleasant was knocked out of championship contention following a loss to Winterset in the class 4A quarterfinals in Fort Dodge.

In Prep Baseball, Mediapolis is gearing up to play Iowa City Regina in the class 2A substate finals tonight at 7 in Iowa City.

Jordan Spieth fell short of winning the coveted grand slam of golf, missing the British Open playoff round by just won stroke, Zach Johnson won the playoff bid to take home the British Open Trophy.

The Burlington Bees were swept by the Peoria Chiefs this series after losing a game at Community field, 6-3.

Cubs fell to the Reds 5-4. Royals fell to the Pirates 10-7.

Cardinals fell to the Mets 3-1. Cubs beat the Braves, 4-1. Royals beat the White Sox 4-1. Twins fell to the Athletics 14-1.

Kyle Busch won the Sprint Cup Race last night at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Ryan Hunter-Reay won the Indycar Iowa Corn 300 at Iowa Speedway in Newton.

Baseball action it was Notre Dame over Holy Trinity 9-1. West Burlington took down Central Lee 8-6. Burlington wrapped up their regular season with a 9-1 win over Mount Pleasant. Mediapolis beat Durant 1-0 in Class 2A. They move to the district final.

The American League squad came out of Cincinnati a winner in last nights MLB All-Star Game by a score of 6-3. The Angels’ Mike Trout, who led the game off with a home run, won the MVP award for the second year in a row, joining Willie Mays, Steve Garvey, Gary Carter, and Cal Ripken, Jr. as the only 2-time All-Star MVP’s in league history.

Burlington Bees take on Cedar Rapids tonight on the road.

In Baseball, Holy Trinity took down WACO 4-3.

Burlington Bees finally got something to work last night, downing the Quad Cities River Bandits 3-2 in Midwest League Play. The win puts them at 7-12 on the season’s second half.

The Major Leagues are off tonight for the All-Star Game. The Cardinal’s Jhonny Peralta will be starting for the National League at Shortstop. The Cubs’ Anthony Rizzo will start at Designated Hitter. On the American League side, Kansas City’s Lorenzo Cain, Salvador Perez, and Alciedes Escobar are all featured in the starting lineup.
