In mens college basketball over the weekend….. SCC…now 5-0…defeated Kennedy-King Saturday, 64-42, in the last game of the Golden Eagle Classic. The Blackhawks don’t play again until this Saturday.

In high school volleyball last night…..
1A regional title game – top-ranked Holy Trinity swept Moravia 25-6, 25-7 and 25-9. The 45-4 Crusaders will go to their 5th straight state tournament next Wednesday(4 PM) against LeMars Gehlen in Cedar Rapids.
1A regional title game – 5th rated New London outlasted Iowa Valley at Washington 25-10, 25-19, 23-25 and 25-21. The (35-7) Tigers go to state for the first time in five years and will take on Tripoli next Wednesday evening(6 PM), also in Cedar Rapids.

The Van Buren Warriors lost last night to Mount Ayr, 45-14, in the second round of the Class A playoffs. Van Buren’s season ends with its best record ever: 8-3.

In high school cross country….. Mt. Pleasant’s Logan Murray placed 3rd at the boys state meet in Class 3A
L-M’s Lucas Nowak came in 32nd and ND-WB’s Baron West finished 40th in 2A
Winfield-Mt. Union’s Gavin Bencze placed 22nd and Johnathan Quinn was 50th in 1A, while Josh Keller came in 49th.
