In local racing, Josh Schneiderman of West Burlington won $2,000 in the 25-lap 305 Sprint Car Feature at 34 Raceway and was making a strong push to catch Brian Brown in the 30-lap MOWA 410 Sprint Car Feature, when Schneiderman’s car got tangled up with a lapped car and flipped over on the second turn. His crew got him going again, but Brown won the race. Austen Becerra of Carthage(IL) won the Outlaw 4-Cylinders.
The Burlington Bees playoff series with Cedar Rapids is tied at a game apiece, after last night’s 2-1 loss to the Kernels. The two Western Division teams will play the ”rubber” game tonight at 6:30 at Community Field.
In high school football tonight….. BHS hosts Ft. Madison (KBUR)
The Burlington Bees shut out the Cedar Rapids Kernels 2-0 last night on the road, in the first game of the Midwest League’s Western Division playoffs. The Bees’ next two games…tonight and tomorrow night, if needed…will be played at Community Field in Burlington.

South Fulton came back to beat West Hancock in 3 games, 20-25, 25-14 and 15-13.
In boys golf…
Burlington’s Jace Mueller shot a 71 for medalist honors and BHS finished 4th at the Assumption Invitational in Davenport. Team honors went to the host school, followed by Bettendorf two shots back…PV five more strokes behind…and then Burlington with a 327, 19 shots off the pace. The West Central boys beat Stark County 182-208, as the Heat’s Jacob Wetzel shot a 38 at the Lake Calhoun Country Club in Lafayette(IL). Continue Reading
The Burlington Bees kick off their post-season tonight, as they face the Cedar Rapids Kernels on the road. Game time is 6:35. Tomorrow night, the best-of-3 Western Division playoff series returns to Community Field and Friday’s game…if needed…will also be played in Burlington.

The Burlington Bees closed out their regular season yesterday, with an 8-5 win over the Quad Cities River Bandits at Community Field.
Bees left fielder Trevor Gretzky’s dad…Hockey great Wayne Gretzky…was in the stands and watched his son go 3-for-4, three of the Bees’ 15 hits. Tomorrow, Burlington travels to Cedar Rapids to begin their playoff journey.

The Burlington Bees lost to the Quad Cities River Bandits 9-4 yesterday at Community Field, but while that was happening the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers took care of the Beloit Snappers, to grab the last wild-card playoff spot in the Western Division. The Bees, who got in by virtue of their first-half-of-the-season play, will take on the Bandits one more time this afternoon at 2 o’clock. The Burlington Bees have signed a 2-year extension of their player development contract with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim. The Bees lost to the Quad Cities River Bandits last night at Community Field 5-1. The two teams play again this afternoon at 2 and you can catch the game on KBUR.
