The Burlington Bees finished one game and then played another, last night, in Davenport.
They beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 7-3 in the completion of Monday night’s contest, that was suspended after five innings by rain…..and they lost last night’s regular game at Modern Woodmen Park, 4-0.

14 local high school softball players have been named “All-Staters,” by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association. Those who made the first teams in their classes are Riley Hale of West Burlington-Notre Dame…Morgan Christner of New London…and Taylor Lemon of Keokuk.

The Bees are now 57-50 for the year, 19-19 for the second half…while the Kernels up their full-season record to 54-55, 22-16 for this half. They’ll wrap up their series in Cedar Rapids tonight, before Burlington returns to Community Field for a Friday-Saturday-Sunday homestand against the Clinton Lumber Kings.
The Burlington Bees edged the Great Lakes Loons 3-2 last night, to break the Loons’ 5-game winning streak. The Bees are now 55-46 on the year and 17-15 in the second half. The two teams will play again tonight at Community Field and you can hear the game on KBUR, beginning at 6:10.

Burlington’s 9-10 Little League All-Star team won the state championship last night, with a 9-2 victory over Central Iowa in Des Moines. The Burlington squad finished 8-0 in postseason play, outscoring its opponents 86 to 4 in the process. Continue Reading

Iowa City West scored 8 runs in the first inning, on its way to a 14-4, five-inning win over the Burlington Grayhounds. It was the title game of the 4A substate competition, so Burlington ends its season with a record of 22-16.

The Lady Falcons of West Burlington-Notre Dame lost to Spirit Lake 3-2 yesterdaty and finished 8th in Class 3A. Continue Reading
