Bees Beat Bandits in Suspended Game, Lose Regular Contest

The Burlington Bees finished one game and then played another, last night, in Davenport.  

They beat the Quad Cities River Bandits 7-3 in the completion of Monday night’s contest, that was suspended after five innings by rain…..and they lost last night’s regular game at Modern Woodmen Park, 4-0.

Bees Tied 3-3 in QC Rain; Play Resumes Tonight

The Burlington Bees-Quad Cities River Bandits game last night in Davenport was suspended after five innings due to the rain. The score at the time was 3-3 and the game will resume today at 5:30 at Modern Woodmen Park, with the regularly-scheduled game to follow.

Bees Lose 8th Straight; QC Next

The Burlington Bees lost their 8th straight game yesterday, a 1-0 defeat at the hands of the Clinton Lumber Kings.

Bees Lose but Head Home; Area Boasts 14 All-Staters in Softball

The Burlington Bees lost again last night on the road to the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Burlington could manage only four hits, on its way to a 6-1 defeat. The Bees will be back in the friendly confines of Community Field tonight, as they begin a 3-game homestand against the Clinton Lumber Kings.   Air-time on KBUR is 6:10.   

14 local high school softball players have been named “All-Staters,” by the Iowa Girls Coaches Association.   Those who made the first teams in their classes are Riley Hale of West Burlington-Notre Dame…Morgan Christner of New London…and Taylor Lemon of Keokuk.

Bees Lose; Wrap Up Road Trip Tonight

The Burlington Bees lost to the Cedar Rapids Kernels 3-2 in 11 innings last night.  

The Bees are now 57-50 for the year, 19-19 for the second half…while the Kernels up their full-season record to 54-55, 22-16 for this half. They’ll wrap up their series in Cedar Rapids tonight, before Burlington returns to Community Field for a Friday-Saturday-Sunday homestand against the Clinton Lumber Kings.

9-10 Softballers Win State!

The Burlington Bees edged the Great Lakes Loons 3-2 last night, to break the Loons’ 5-game winning streak. The Bees are now 55-46 on the year and 17-15 in the second half.   The two teams will play again tonight at Community Field and you can hear the game on KBUR, beginning at 6:10.   

In girls softball…

Burlington’s 9-10 Little League All-Star team won the state championship last night, with a 9-2 victory over Central Iowa in Des Moines.   The Burlington squad finished 8-0 in postseason play, outscoring its opponents 86 to 4 in the process. Continue Reading

Bees Lose to Loons; BHS Baseballers Out at Substate Level

The Burlington Bees were shut out by the Great Lakes Loons 1-nothing last night at Community Field. The two teams will go at it again tonight and you can hear the game on KBUR, beginning with the pre-game show at 6:10.  

In high school baseball…

Iowa City West scored 8 runs in the first inning, on its way to a 14-4, five-inning win over the Burlington Grayhounds. It was the title game of the 4A substate competition, so Burlington ends its season with a record of 22-16.   

At the girls state softball tournament…

The Lady Falcons of West Burlington-Notre Dame lost to Spirit Lake 3-2 yesterdaty and finished 8th in Class 3A. Continue Reading
