THE BURLINGTON HIGH SCHOOL BOYS GOLF TEAM HAS QUALIFIED FOR STATE.   BRIAN PETERSON SHOT A 3-OVER-PAR 75 YESTERDAY AT THE CLASS 4A DISTRICT MEET IN DAVENPORT, TYING HIM FOR SECOND.  THE TEAM SHOT A 317 FOR THIRD PLACE AND A TRIP TO MARION THIS FRIDAY AND SATURDAY.     (BETTENDORF WAS FIRST AND PLEASANT VALLEY SECOND.)

 

THREE OF THE WEST CENTRAL HEAT BOYS GOLF TEAM ADVANCED TO THE CLASS 1A SECTIONAL TOURNAMENT IN HAVANA.  BRENT NICHOLS, JEFF COLWELL AND JACOB WETZEL WILL ALL PLAY THIS WEEKEND.  

 
IN GIRLS HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL, THE TOP-RATED 1A TEAM IN THE STATE, HOLY TRINITY, BEAT NUMBER-4 NEW LONDON IN THREE GAMES, BUT IT WAS CLOSE:  25-18, 25-20 AND 25-11 AT SENIOR NITE IN NEW LONDON.

THE COACH’S SON IS OUT AGAIN FOR THE WESTERN ILLINOIS LEATHERNECKS.   SENIOR BILLY MOLINARI SUFFERED A SEASON-ENDING KNEE INJURY, ACCORDING TO HEAD COACH JIM MOLINARI.  BILLY ONLY GOT A CHANCE TO PLAY IN THREE GAMES DURING HIS CAREER AT WESTERN.
