Mepo the Place to be for V-Ball

West Burlington High School alum Brian Nelson will be inducted into the Wartburg College Athletics Hall of Fame this weekend. The former WB-ND all-state quarterback is now the head coach and A-D at Mary Persons High School in Forsyth, Georgia.  

Holy Trinity volleyball player Mikaela Foecke has been named one of the HyVee Horizon Athletes of the week.

BHS Swimming Team Loses 7 Members

It was Senior Night at the Burlington High School pool, but the Lady Grayhound swimmers lost to Davenport West 120 to 55. BHS seniors Mikala Yee…Lydia Benninghoven…Marissa Purdum…Megan Larkins…Kiona Lee…Delaney White…and Alexis Haley competed for the last time as high schoolers.  

In boys golf…

West Central’s Jacob Wetzel shot an 84 at the Class 1A Brimfield Sectional, good for 10th place and a trip to the state tournament Friday and Saturday in Bloomington.   Pleasant Plains, Mercer County and Pittsfield advanced from Brimfield in the team competition.  

In high school volleyball…

(#1-1A) Holy Trinity swept Central Lee 25-9, 25-5 and 25-3

(#8-3A) Mediapolis swept Iowa Mennonite 25-6, 25-22 and 25-13

(#15-1A) Winfield-Mt. Union swept Wapello


North Scott Beat Burlington in four games

West Burlington defeated Van Buren in three

Notre Dame swept Harmony (in 3)


Illini West came out on top of Rushville-Industry in two games

Former County Attorney’s Murder Trial Set for January

QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A January trial date has been set for a former Adams County prosecutor charged in the 2006 death of his first wife. Curtis Lovelace has pleaded not guilty in the death of Cory Lovelace. An inquest failed to decide what caused the 38-year-old woman’ death. The case remained open until the 45-year-old Lovelace was indicted in August on first-degree murder charges. Continue Reading
