THE BURLINGTON BEES SPLIT A DOUBLE-HEADER WITH THE KERNELS IN CEDAR RAPIDS LAST(WED) NITE, LOSING THE FIRST GAME 6 TO 5 AND COMING BACK TO WIN THE NITECAP 6 TO 4. THE TWO TEAMS WILL CLOSE OUT THEIR 4-GAME SERIES TONITE AT “PERFECT GAME” FIELD AND YOU CAN HEAR ALL THE ACTION ON KBUR, BEGINNING WITH BRANDON MARCUS’ PREGAME SHOW AT 6:15.   (THE BEES RETURN HOME TOMORROW(FRI) TO FACE WISCONSIN.)

 

AT THE IOWA HIGH SCHOOL STATE TRACK & FIELD MEETS IN DES MOINES, THERE ARE NUMEROUS LOCAL QUALIFIERS – BURLINGTON’S JUSTIN RANDALL IN THE HIGH JUMP IS ONE OF THE FAVORITES IN CLASS 4A.   ALL TOLD, BHS HAS NINE ATHLETES COMPETING IN SIX EVENTS IN THE BOYS COMPETITION…THE BURLINGTON GIRLS HAVE SENT SIX QUALIFIERS…THE WB-ND BOYS HAVE NINE COMPETITORS IN EIGHT EVENTS IN THE 2A CLASS…THE WB-ND GIRLS HAVE THREE ENTRIES. 

 

THE MEDIAPOLIS BOYS QUALIFIED IN FIVE RELAYS AND THREE OTHER EVENTS…MEPO’S GIRLS IN THREE EVENTS…FORT MADISON IS REPRESENTED BY SEVEN BOYS IN NINE EVENTS IN CLASS 3A AND THERE ARE TWO FT. MADISON GIRLS COMPETING…THERE ARE 13 MT. PLEASANT GIRLS AT THE STATE MEET…AND A NUMBER OF PANTHER BOYS AS WELL IN EIGHT EVENTS, ENOUGH TO CHALLENGE FT. MADISON FOR A TEAM TITLE.     KEOKUK HAS QUALIFIED IN FIVE BOYS EVENTS…DANVILLE IN FIVE GIRLS EVENTS…AND THE VAN BUREN GIRLS IN THREE EVENTS.
