Former County Attorney’s Murder Trial Set for January http://www.kbur.com/2014/10/10/former-county-attorneys-murder-trial-set-for-january/ http://www.kbur.com/2014/10/10/former-county-attorneys-murder-trial-set-for-january/#comments Fri, 10 Oct 2014 13:47:15 +0000 http://www.kbur.com/?p=44588 QUINCY, Ill. (AP) — A January trial date has been set for a former Adams County prosecutor charged in the 2006 death of his first wife.

Curtis Lovelace has pleaded not guilty in the death of Cory Lovelace. An inquest failed to decide what caused the 38-year-old woman’ death. The case remained open until the 45-year-old Lovelace was indicted in August on first-degree murder charges. The indictment alleges Lovelace suffocated his wife.

Lovelace is being held in the Hancock County Jail in lieu of $5 million bond. During a Thursday hearing, defense attorney Jay Elmore said he expects to file a motion for a reduction of bond.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports Judge Bob Hardwick set a trial date of Jan. 26. However, Elmore said it “will be a while” before there’s a trial.
