Iowa Behind on Crop Planting

Iowa is falling behind on it’s planting progress due to wet conditions throughout the state.

According to the USDA, only 15% of corn acreage has been planted compared to last years 86%. It’s been 20 years since the state has been under 20% of corn acres planted before May 12th. Corn isn’t the only crop not being planted on time. Soybeans are only 1% complete, which is well behind last years 34%. With warm weather coming this week, farmers may finally get a chance to make a little progress.
