Pennsylvania crossing guard told to leave gun at home

A crossing guard in eastern Pennsylvania is hanging up his holster after a picture of him packing heat was posted on Facebook.

WPVI-TV reports 52-year-old Scott Becker has been a crossing guard in Bethlehem for 8 years and has a permit to carry a gun.

But he was asked Monday by school officials to leave the gun at home after a photo appeared on Facebook showing he was armed while crossing kids heading to school.

Becker says he thought the gun might be useful if someone threatened the kids.

He says he has no problem with leaving his .40 caliber Smith and Wesson locked up when crossing kids, but will continue to carry it other times.
